Chapter Fifteen: The More the Merrier

Dear Diary,

Alex is so happy to be a father again.  I told him quietly over breakfast.  He wanted to go tell Ben right away but I told him to wait and let Ben go to school so I'd have the day to decide how to tell him the big news.  Yeah, I've put on a lot of weight this time around and I'm not that far along!

It was another talk over the dining table.  I asked Ben how he would feel about having a brother or sister and he said "That would be cool."  I don't think he was really paying attention.
I told him that we were going to have a baby and that he'd get to find out just how cool it was in a little less than a year.  I assured him that his father and I love him and that we would still love him even when the baby arrived.
Ben wanted to feel my just starting baby bump.  He chattered away about various friends who had siblings.  Then he asked the question no parent is really prepared to deal with "How does the baby get in there?"

So a couple nights later after an emergency visit to the local library, I sat on the bed with an age appropriate book trying to explain the so-called facts of life to my six and a half year old son.

Jonah wouldn't or couldn't even help me.  He'd met a lady at the hospital and was so distracted he wasn't really any good for much else.  I am glad he's happy but he left me in a pinch.

Alex was no better.  His line was "You're his mother; you explain."  Men!

Well, goodnight diary. 

I have to go to the bathroom again before bed.  I can't believe I'd forgotten exactly what this was like.
